Notes from Granville from the July match.
Wow, did you see that Cowboy Rance shoot?! Just .50 seconds less than Long Fingers, and kicking my butt again, of course. Way to go Rance! Partner and .45 Kid were only 3 seconds apart in their ongoing rivalry. We had a bunch of new faces, and they were some shooters too. Hope to see the faces become old and familiar friends. 22 Shooters banged away at our steel, and it seemed like everybody had a good time except possibly the steel. Not too many misses! Much thanks to Kory for bringing up his Texas Star. We=ll be seeing that real soon again if I have my way. It kind of grows on you.
Speaking of my way, there were a lot of shooters who had too much fun - almost excited and even drooling a little - when they recited the lines about wanting to hang me on Stage 4. So, just to pay you back for wanting to stretch old Granville=s neck, I=ve already got three devious stages in the bag for August (Cackle, cackle, cackle!).
One other thing different for the July match was the eats afterwards. Since our favorite eatery burned (don=t ever leave home with the dryer running), we ate at the club. That worked out great too. I thought so anyway. I wished more people had stayed, but I know folks have other places to go. Broomtail and Partner=s Partner did a bang-up job, and the food was GOOD! A great big thanks to them for their efforts. Look for more of the same in August. Don=t know what the menu will be, but we=ll be in the clubhouse diner again.
Until August, keep your muzzles up and your powder dry, and remember, there=s nothing like the smell of burning gunpowder and the plink of steel in the morning.

National Cowboy Day – Saturday, July 26, 2008
Just thought I would let all you cowpokes know that Granville, Cripple Creek Kory, and I once again had a Cowboy Action Shooters table at the National Cowboy Day celebration held at Cedar Hills Feed & Supply in Dunlap - lots of free grub, entertainment, pony rides, Civil War Re-Enactor, trick roper, and more. It is always held on the 4th Saturday of July each year and this was the second year at Dunlap. Granville and Kory have a lot of unusual period guns and they know all the history that goes with them like Custer’s Last Stand, Civil War, etc. We had a lot of interest and even have a couple of cowpokes that are planning on joining us in August to shoot. They have already gotten most of their guns together but we may have to loan a gun or two to get them started. We told them that cowboys are always helpful and that would not be a problem. We hope to see them this month. Keep this day in mind next year and stop out – we will no doubt be there again.
