YOUR Club’s 2004 elections will be held on Tuesday, November 11th, at 6:30 P.M.  All members are welcome to come and cast YOUR vote for the 2004 Officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer), one (1) open 2003-2004 Board Seat, and four (4) open 2004-2005 Board Seats.  Known candidate’s names will be published in next month’s (November) newsletter.

Last 2003 Class is scheduled for the 2nd Weekend (Thursday evening, Friday evening, Saturday daytime) of October.  Any questions, contact Lowell Bennett @ (309) 274-5586.


The IL-DNR recently checked out our Club’s Lake and made some recommendations regarding fishing limits to improve the size and quality, of the fish in our Lake.  Therefore, the Board decided that -- EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2003, AND FOR THE NEXT 12 MONTHS, NO BASS WILL BE TAKEN FROM THE LAKE.  IF YOU CATCH ANY BASS YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY RETURN THEM TO THE LAKE.   IN ADDITION, YOU MAY KEEP ONLY 2 CATFISH PER DAY AND A TOTAL OF 6 PANFISH (BLUEGILL, CRAPPIE, SUNFISH, ETC.) PER DAY.  Paul Aaron, (309) 274-2370, Lake Chairman, has posted new signs with this information around the Lake.

GUN BAN BILLS HAVE NOT GONE AWAY!  They have been tabled.  Detrimental bills to our right to own and use most firearms could resurface at any time.  Please remember to make periodic POLITE and FRIENDLY written/telephonic reminders to your legislators about your position on proposed firearms related issues.  Their local telephone numbers are listed in your telephone book.  Their office can give you their Springfield telephone number and e-mail address.

Open Trap is available on Thursday evenings @ 6:00 p.m. & the 1st and 3rd Sunday Mornings @ 9:00 a.m.  We will need help running Sunday shoots with Hunting Season starting.  Questions – contact Dale Schroeder @ (309) 274-3082.

Mauser Matches: are held on range #1 on the 2nd Saturday each month at 10 AM.  Future match dates are:  October 11, November 8, and December 13.  Rules: 50 meters, open sights, center-fire, 20 shots standing per relay, re-entry.  Questions - contact Max Koehl @ (309) 385-1033.

This match had the largest participation of all the matches to date!!  The weather was also perfect.


Monthly match is the 3rd Sunday at 9:00 a.m., on Range 5.  Mike James, the current Director, is stepping down effective January 2004.  Anyone interested in assuming the Director’s Position please contact Mike @ (309) 274-6473 for the details of the position.

Cary Meyers, where are you??  Cary moved and did not provide the Club with any forwarding address.  If anyone knows him and/or his new address, please let us know, or better yet have him let us know, so that we can get him back on the monthly newsletter list.  Again, if you have moved, or are moving, please let us know your new address.    Please mail your new address to the Club at P.O.    The newsletter and calendar are available for viewing on-line.  Back issues of the newsletter are available as well and the club activities information are periodically updated.  Check it out.  The web site address is listed at the top of each monthly newsletter.

Many of you newer members and some of you older members have provided the Club with your e-mail address.  The Club will be e-mailing you your monthly newsletter.  If you have provided your e-mail address and have not received your monthly newsletter via e-mail, please let us know via e-mail so that we can get your correct e-mail address. (Some of the e-mailed newsletters have come back as undeliverable due to a bad e-mail address)  You will also continue to receive a hard copy of the newsletter, until we hear from you that the e-mail version is sufficient.  The Club can then delete your name from the club newsletter printing and mailing list.  This will save the Club money (just over $.50 per).  Tim Vik is the CLUB WEBMASTER and E-MAIL coordinator.  His E-MAIL address is  Thanks!!

Wonder what all the acronyms used out on the range and in this newsletter mean? This area of the newsletter is dedicated to helping explain these. If I forget some or misidentify them, please let me know.
