INFORMATIONAL NOTICES

NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION:  The May and June NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION dates are set.  ALL SESSIONS WILL BE HELD IN THE CLUBHOUSE.  YOU ARE REQUESTED TO PLEASE BRING YOUR COPY OF THE CLUB’S BY-LAWS, GENERAL/GROUND RULES, AND RANGE RULES WITH YOU.  The scheduled dates are:

MAY - Saturday, May 7th, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday, May 31st, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

June – Saturday, June 4th, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday, June 21st, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

If you are planning on attending one of these four sessions, PLEASE let Chuck Varnold know @ (309) 697-6766 OR BY E-MAIL - tunaot@insightbb.com  He needs your name, member status and phone number.  Additional dates and times will be scheduled later in the year.

You do not have to attend the orientation session before being eligible to use the Club’s facilities.

Club members:  remember to introduce yourselves to our New Members when you see them.  Let’s make them feel welcome to our fraternity of sports enthusiasts.

 

TRAP RANGE NEWS:  Dale is still in dire need of help with the many scheduled Trap Events.  If you are able to help him, please do so.  Questions / Availability – contact Dale Schroeder @ (309) 369-6569.

Friday, May 13th is a Friday Night Derby starting at 6:00 p.m.

Sunday, May 15th is a 20 gauge shoot, 75 birds / $100 added money opening at 9:00 a.m. and shooting at 11:00 a.m.

Monday, May 30th is a 100 bird handicap derby / $100 added money opening at 9:00 a.m.

Friday, June 24th is a Friday Night Derby starting at 6:00 p.m.

 

LOST AT GUN SHOW:  Someone left an amber colored glass pie plate at the Gun Show.  It is in the Clubhouse.  Contact any Board Member to arrange access to the Clubhouse to retrieve your pie plate.

 

YSSI SHOOTING SPORTS INVITATIONAL WEEKEND

The 5th Annual YSSI Weekend will be history before you receive this newsletter.  We had 115 pre-registered youth and adults for this big event.  A TREMENDOUS THANKS TO ALL OF THE VARIOUS CLUB MEMBERS WHO HELPED MAKE THIS A SUCCESSFUL EVENT FOR THE YOUTH.  The youth got to try all of our ranges and were well fed in addition to burning a lot of ammunition.  AGAIN, THANKS TO ALL OF THE VOLUNTEER STAFF.  Questions - contact Bob Bjerke @ (309) 692-1800.

Be sure to check out this month’s and next month’s included calendars for All Scheduled Archery, Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, and Other Events and Starting Times.  Check out the Club web site.  Some of our regular events have changed there starting dates and times.  The included calendars are as accurate as possible for this month and next month.  You can also go to the Club’s website http://www.chillisportsmen.org/ for event information.

 

BUFFALO SHOOTS

1st place in the March 20th Center Fire match was Mike Hallar

1st place in the March 20th 22-Scope class was Bill Wallinger.

1st place in the March 20th 22 open sight class was Mike Hallar.

Prize for the May 15th match is a Buffalo Shooters T-shirt.

MAUSER MATCH

The April 9th Mauser Match, with its beautiful weather, results were:

Al Smith who shot 351 with his Persian Mauser won the “long rifle” challenge match.

High Raw Score ended in a tie between Carl Dalcher and Paul Smith who each shot 197-6X.  Carl used a Turk Mauser and Carl used a Brazilian Mauser.

1st place        Frank Virant         227           M48

2nd place        Keith Kohler         207           K31 Schmidt-Rubin

3rd place        Carl Dalcher         202           Turk Mauser

Next match is May 14th.  The Special Challenge will be for shooters firing “cast bullets”’.

CLUB MEMBER MAILING ADDRESS

Some of our members have moved to a new address and have not notified the Club.  The Post Office returns your monthly club newsletter and charges the Club $ .37 for each newsletter returned.  The Club then has to again pay an additional $ .37 to forward this returned newsletter to you.  These fees are in addition to the original printing and standard rate postage charges incurred in sending you your monthly newsletter.

If you have moved, or are moving, please let us know your new address.    Please mail your new address to the Club at P.O. Box 13, Chillicothe, IL 61523 or call one of our officers with it.  If you call and get an answering machine, please leave your telephone number also.  Sometimes the machines are unable to clearly record your message.  Thanks.

 

CLUB WEB SITE & E-MAIL NOTICE

   The newsletter and calendar are available for viewing on-line.  Back issues of the newsletter are available as well and the club activities information are periodically updated.  Check it out.  The web site address is listed at the top of each monthly newsletter.

Many of you newer members and some of you older members have provided the Club with your e-mail address.  The Club will be e-mailing you your monthly newsletter.  If you have provided your e-mail address and have not received your monthly newsletter via e-mail, please let us know via e-mail so that we can get your correct e-mail address. (Some of the e-mailed newsletters have come back as undeliverable due to a bad e-mail address)  You will also continue to receive a hard copy of the newsletter, until we hear from you that the e-mail version is sufficient.  The Club can then delete your name from the club newsletter printing and mailing list.  This will save the Club money (just over $.50 per newsletter).  Tim Vik is the CLUB WEBMASTER and E-MAIL coordinator.  His E-MAIL address is sprtsman@mtco.com.  Thanks!!

Acronyms - What the heck do they mean!!???!!?!?

Wonder what all the acronyms used out on the range and in this newsletter mean? This area of the newsletter is dedicated to helping explain these. If I forget some or misidentify them, please let me know.
