BAD E-MAIL ADDRESSES:  TO ALL CSC E-MAIL NEWSLETTER RECIPIENTS – As a newsletter e-mail recipient, Did you fail to receive your September Newsletter via e-mail?  Are you a current comcast.net (formerly insightbb.com) customer?  Comcast.net stopped forwarding insightbb.com e-mail as of July 31.  Our files still show over 60 members with insightbb.com addresses.  Please make sure CSC has your correct e-mail address on file!  This message applies to all e-mail recipients.  E-mail your new/correct address to the CSC Webmaster so that he can update his file.  His e-mail address is webmaster@chillisportsmen.org

It is your responsibility to make sure that the Club has your current home address, telephone number, e-mail address, etc., for you to continue receiving your monthly newsletter and any other important communications.

 

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE:  Even though the US Supreme ruled in favor of our 2nd Amendments Rights to own/possess firearms, there are still a substantial number of ANTI-GUN bills pending in the Illinois General Assembly.  Please contact your respective representative, either in Springfield or thru his/her local office and POLITELY request that he/she vote against any and all pending ANTI-GUN legislation.  Additionally, politely request that he/she vote FOR the CONCEALED-CARRY LAW that is also pending.  The phone numbers are in your phone book.  They are also available thru the CSC, ISRA.org and NRAILA.org websites.  Follow the prompts.

 

Annual Membership Meeting, Elections, & Proposed By-Laws Revisions:  Mark your calendar for Tuesday, November 11, 6:30 p.m., in the Clubhouse.  This newsletter contains an insert with Proposed Club By-laws changes/revisions.  Additionally, please consider running for an available Board position (5 positions to be filled) or a Club Officer (if eligible) position (4 positions available).  To announce your availability and get your name on the ballot contact Charles Varnold @ (309) 697-6766 or Jerry Oglesby @ (309) 274-5413 or Bob Bjerke @ (309) 692-1800 or Lowell Bennett @ (309) 274-5586.  

 

GUN SHOW

 

The CSC semi-annual gun show is scheduled for the September 27 & 28 weekend in the Clubhouse.  Show times are:  Saturday, September 27, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. & Sunday, September 28, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Desserts (PIES ONLY) are also needed for the Show Kitchen.  Work Hour Credits will be given for help and pies provided (3/4 hour per pie provided).  Make sure your pies are in containers you do not want back.  Cakes have been dropped as a dessert offering as they do not sell!

NMO ORIENTATION 

 

NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION (NMO):  An (**) in your middle initial area means you need to attend to obtain your 2008 card & gate key.  Check the enclosed calendar for dates & times.  ADVANCE RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED OR NO INSTRUCTOR WILL BE AT THE CLUB FOR THE CLASS.  To make your class attendance reservation or to ask any questions - Contact Charles Varnold at (309) 697-6766 or via e-mail at tunaot1@sbcglobal.net

 

CMP Results

 

The July Special M-1 Garand Match results were:

MAUSER MATCHES

 

Mauser Match rules are casual center-fire off-hand rifle matches at 50 meters for rifles with open sights and pre-1964 military bolt action repeaters.  The next match is September 27th.

September 27 Special Challenge Match is “Bad-Guy – Blind Target”.  These special targets will have additional scoring opportunities from the “Bad Guys” on the blind/hidden reverse side of the targets.  Being “blind”, this will involve a great deal of chance.  Any Mauser Match rifle & ammunition combination may be used.

The October Match date is Saturday, October 11.

TEMPORARILY AWAY FROM HOME/NEW ADDRESS

 

Are you going to be “TEMPORARILY AWAY(maybe for the winter, an extended vacation or job demands)?  More and more monthly newsletters are being returned to the Club marked as “TEMPORARILY AWAY”!  When you notify the Post Office that you are going to be “TEMPORARILY AWAY” they will ONLY HOLD or FORWARD 1ST CLASS MAIL.  All other mail is returned to the sender.  Your monthly newsletter is mailed to you using Bulk Rate Postage.  Consequently, your newsletter is returned to the Club marked POSTAGE DUE @ $ .42 which the Club has to pay to retrieve it.  These newsletters cannot be forwarded, as we do not know where to send them.

Members that have “MOVED TO A NEW ADDRESS and have not notified the Club of their NEW ADDRESS also have their newsletters returned marked POSTAGE DUE @ $ .42 which the Club has to pay to retrieve it.  The Post Office will not forward these newsletters.  Please notify the Club when you move!  It is your responsibility!

The newsletter and calendar are available for viewing on-line at www.chillisportsmen.org  The website also lists all Club ACTIVIITIES, events, and contains periodically updated general information as well as the current CSC Membership Application. Wonder what all the acronyms used out on the range and in this newsletter mean? This area of the newsletter is dedicated to helping explain these. If I forget some or misidentify them, please let me know.
